Buffer Charts Using Direct Predecessors

  1. By default, Buffer Charts plot the Tracking Milestone (Project Complete in this example).

  2. Buffer Charts can be configured to plot all direct predecessors of the Tracking Milestone within the last 'X' number of weeks.
  3. On the Tracked Milestones page in Buffer Properties, select the option Show direct predecessors within 'X' weeks.

  4. In this example, there are six tasks that are direct predecessors with end dates that are within four weeks of the Project Complete milestone.

  5. All six tasks are now plotted on the Buffer Chart giving you better visibility to the specific activities that are driving buffer consumption and how they are changing over time. Note: In the legend, you can click on the labels to toggle on/off the display of individual plots.
